English / Malayalam Choir
Gospel Music group*
St Mark's Marthoma Church coir was formally constituted on Saturday March 11, 2005.
“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, .”
Ephesians 5:19
Music is an integral part of corporate worship and the church choir plays vital role in leading the worshipers in singing of songs and prayers used in worship services. The choirs ministry to the congregation is to INVITE, PREPARE and LEAD them in worship. The choir helps the congregation sing together and experience the presence of God. Leading the congregation in hymns and prayers is absolutely essential for worship, since praise is much desired by God. The St. Marks choir is affiliated to the Mar Thoma Department of Sacred Music and Communications (DSMC). The choir was constituted in 2005, and has two wings English and Malayalam. The choir helps to enhance the beauty of worship every Sunday. Choir functions in accordance with the bye laws of the DSMC. Members of the choir are selected through voice test, which is normally conducted every three years. Currently the choir has total membership of 34. The choir organizes the Christmas carol service every year and participates in the annual South East Regional Choir Festival of the diocese.
